Why do you like working at Financial Streams?

I appreciate the freedom we’re given at Financial Streams, and I enjoy working with the team to explore new ideas, systems and technologies. This collaboration allows us to rethink traditional methods in favour of smarter, more efficient solutions that elevate both the results we deliver and the overall client experience. This flexibility keeps my work exciting and continuously evolving.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m passionate about financial planning, and it’s a big part of my life even outside of work. I also enjoy reading books, upskilling my knowledge, home renovations, gardening, walking my Border Collie, fishing, and spending quality time with my wife.

What are you currently watching or listening to?

Friday night is ‘beer and barbecue night’ for me, and I’ll often be kicking back listening to a mix of 70s and 80s tunes during those evenings with my dog at my feet.

What is your most helpful money/financial tip?

A tip that comes to mind is to create two budgets. The first one tracks what you’re currently spending—don’t change anything yet, just track so that you know where everything is – remember ‘what gets measured, gets managed’. The second budget is designed around your ideal life. Be specific about where you want your money to go and the exact categories you want to focus on, this could be date nights with your partner, weekends with your kids, or investing in your education. Then, add back in all of your essential expenses like housing, electricity, fuel etc. This approach ensures your money is being directed towards things you truly value and that bring you the most fulfilment, giving you a clear plan to work towards achieving both your financial goals and an enriched life.
